KYLE Newman has targeted a return to action when Poole Pirates take on Coventry Bees on Wednesday.
The Pirates reserve will test his recovery from a broken collarbone sustained last month in a practice session at Peterborough today.
Newman said: “I went to a private hospital on Thursday to have an X-ray on my shoulder and the bone has practically healed.
“I choose not to race on Friday to allow me to practice. I want to make sure I’m 100 per cent fit before coming back into competitive racing as one knock could set me back further.
"If all goes well, I’ll be in the Poole team on Wednesday night but if I’m not right I won’t be risking another enforced break from racing.”
