BASHLEY off-spinner Sam Thomson claimed five wickets for Dorset on another rain-hit day at Chapel Gate today.
With play unable to get underway until 4.20pm due to the wet conditions, the former Parley man did a clinical job of closing the visitors’ innings in a hurry.
He mopped up the away team’s order in clinical fashion to return 5-32 from 14 overs with Cheshire all out for 157.
Away skipper Lee Dixon top scored for Cheshire with 61, including a patient 43 alongside Rick Moore at the top of the order.
In reply, Dorset lost Masoor Khan for just one, caught off the bowling of spinner Danny Woods, but Luke Webb and Tom Arnold saw the hosts to 25-1 at the close.
