SHAUN MacDonald is expected to be put on standby for Wales’ friendly double-header against Northern Ireland and Ukraine – but there is no place in the England squad for any Cherries players.
Simon Francis, Charlie Daniels and Andrew Surman have all played a starring role for Eddie Howe's team this season and have been watched by England manager Roy Hodgson ahead of this summer’s European Championships.
But with Hodgson having today named his squad for warm-up friendlies against Germany and Holland later this month, none of the trio have been included, as revealed exclusively by the Daily Echo last night.
Francis is believed to have caught the eye of Hodgson during Cherries’ FA Cup fifth round clash with Everton last month, with the Three Lions boss taking a second look during the 0-0 draw at Watford in the Premier League seven days later.
But despite impressing against the Hornets – and turning in a series of outstanding displays during Cherries’ maiden campaign in the top flight – the 31-year-old was overlooked, together with his team-mates.
Midfielder MacDonald, capped three times by Wales, is expected to be put on standby for their games against Northern Ireland in Cardiff on March 24 and in Ukraine four days later.
