EDDIE Howe watched Cherries claim another memorable scalp and then hailed a “great week for the club”.

Goals from Junior Stanislas and Joshua King earned Cherries a 2-1 victory over Manchester United at the Vitality Stadium.

The win evoked memories of the club’s famous FA Cup giant-killing of the Red Devils in 1984 under Harry Redknapp, who was in the crowd today.

Howe’s team followed up their 1-0 success at Chelsea, a result the manager suggested had been the best in the club’s history.

Asked for his reaction to the United victory, Howe said: “I would probably prefer to focus on the week rather than the individual games because I think, last week, I felt afterwards maybe I had disrespected Harry a little bit with their win against Manchester United.

“That was a terrific achievement for that group of players and him but I think when you look back at this week, it has just been a great week for the club and not the type of thing that has ever happened here so we are certainly embracing the good feeling.”
