CHERRIES defender Elliott Ward has returned to Huddersfield Town on loan.

The 30-year-old had been at Vitality Stadium receiving treatment to a knee injury since playing for Huddersfield at Wolves in October.

Ward, whose first loan spell with the Terriers started in September, signed a new deal to return before the November 26 deadline.

He will be part of head coach David Wagner’s squad for a further five matches, covering them up to the opening of the January transfer window.

Ward is with Town until and including December 28 and Wagner – whose side have an upcoming home double header against Bristol City and Rotherham – is pleased to have him on board.

He told the Examiner: “I know Elliott did well for the team in his original loan, so it is good that we can get him back and see him.

“Elliott is now available to train after his injury, so we have to get across our ideas to him like we have the other players over the past month and get him up to proper fitness.

“If we can do this, he can then help us on the pitch, as we have a lot of matches to play until 28 December.”
