RESURGENT Chris Holder admits his Grand Prix ranking is no longer a burden following a stellar showing in Cardiff.

The Poole Pirates charger totalled 18 points on his way to the silver medal at the Millennium Stadium, an effort which propelled him from 13th to sixth in the standings.

And the 27-year-old revealed his pride had been restored as a result of his free-scoring exploits.

He told the Daily Echo: “Sixth sounds so much better. When people ask me where I am on the leaderboard, I will tell them.

“Before I just said I wasn’t having a good run. Now I can say I’m sixth and be proud of it.

“When I looked at the standings I thought, ‘I’m going to need more than one good meeting’ but one decent result has bumped me right up.

“I’ve given myself a chance to chase the guys above me. They are going well but strange things happen when the pressure is on.

“I have to peg them back. We’ve had four GPs and I’ve had three pretty bad ones but it’s never over till it’s over and I won’t give up.

“Sometimes it’s better to chase than be chased.”
