TEAM boss Neil Middleditch insists there is no urge to push the panic button at Poole Pirates in the face of a mixed start to the campaign.

The reigning Elite League champions, cursed by injuries to skipper Maciej Janowski, heat-leader Davey Watt and homegrown reserve Kyle Newman, dropped home points against Coventry and Belle Vue before Monday’s 55-38 reverse at in-form Wolverhampton.

But Pirates still find themselves in the top four with meetings to spare and Middleditch is staying calm despite his side’s wobbles.

Middleditch told the Daily Echo: “It’s still early days and we have enjoyed some good form on the road.

"We have had a few unfortunate things happen with injuries and the like but I am not overlydisappointed. There are some good signs.

“We want to pay Wolves back straight away and more importantly, get back to winning ways at Wimborne Road.

"There is a long way to go yet and the play-offs is the place to be. If we get there then it all starts again.”
