KYLE Newman has this evening suffered a suspected broken leg while riding for Plymouth against Peterborough in the Premier League Cup.
Pirates' in-form reserve was on a heat 12 tactical ride when he crashed heavily on the back straight at the East of England Showground while attempting to pass Ales Dryml.
It is understood that his left leg was placed in a splint prior to departing for hospital in an ambulance.
The news will come as a blow to Poole as Newman has been in superb form in the opening two meetings of the Elite League campaign.
Pirates are already contending with the absence of number one Darcy Ward, sidelined due to injuries sustained in the New Zealand Grand Prix.
