HIGH-FLYING teenager Brad Rowell is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Winter Olympic snowboarding medallist Jenny Jones.
The 13-year-old Highcliffe School pupil excels in the slopestyle, the same category as Great Britain’s Jones, who won bronze in Sochi last month.
Brad, who trains at Snowtrax (Matchams), also won a bronze medal in his most recent competition at The BRITS (British Indoor Championship) in Manchester.
“ I only live a few minutes away from my home slope (Snowtrax) where I ride five times a week in all weathers,” Brad told the Daily Echo.
“My category involves ramps, rails and jumps where you get marked on your single runs and the highest scorer wins.
“I would like to be a world-class snowboarder and compete in the Winter Olympics.”
Brad’s hero is his Butta sponsor team-mate Billy Morgan, from Southampton, who finished 10th in the men’s slopestyle event in Sochi.
He is also a big fan of Winter X-Games gold medallist Torstein Horgmo.
“They have such a good attitude towards the sport and everything they do is clean and amazing,” added Brad.
Freestyler Brad’s next tournament is the British Championships at Tignes in France (Sunday, March 30 to April 5).
Brad has been snowboarding for two-and-half years after he was bought lessons for his 11th birthday.
