WIMBORNE got back to winning ways with a comprehensive 47-5 victory over Corsham in Southern Counties South.

But the All Blacks were made to work for it after the visitors came out all guns blazing in the opening 25 minutes.

Corsham, however, failed to convert any of the openings they created – instead handing the Leigh Parkers a gift when James Mikolajewski slotted over a penalty.

And the East Dorset side’s luck continued when, having used quick ball to set their backs free, Declan Foley broke up the blind-side and fed Ryan Maidment.

Maidment made good ground and laid off to Mikolajewski |who crashed over for the opening try.

Wimborne were in the ascendency and Jimmy Brokenshire made it 13-0, before Will Tarbard took advantage of sound work from Tom Brown to dive over just before the break. 18-0 at half-time.

The All Blacks continued their momentum after the restart, with Brown touching down for a bonus-point try and Aaron Day crossing the line for another score which Maidment converted.

Some ill-discipline from the hosts led to Corsham finally getting on the scoreboard with a penalty, but Wimborne were soon back in full flow when Nick Bolton dived over following good work from Brokenshire.

And in a final flourish, flanker Doug Robinson got on the score sheet along with a Maidment conversion, before Brokenshire celebrated a fine individual performance with his second try late on.

All Blacks: Adams, R Brokenshire, Tinsdale, Day, Christopher, Napier, Robertson, Foley, Maidment, Tarbard, J Brokenshire, Brown, Hamer, Mikolajewski, Bolton, Carey, Allan, Krosnar-Clarke.

  •  Lytchett Minster racked up an impressive 50-15 win at North Dorset.

The visitors went into the break 33-5 in front after stunning first-half tries from Pete Wilkinson, Lewis Mitchell, Jack Baker and John Hollingsworth. Mitchell added three conversions.

A Minster purple patch followed in the second half, with Darryl Cormack bursting through several tackles, chipping and gathering before crashing over the line for a stunning individual try.

And after North hit back with a try of their own, Minster responded with Hollingsworth adding his second try and Greg Mead touching down under the posts and Mitchell converting.

North added a third try late on, but it was too little, too late.

  •  A Paddy Grogan double and Joe Bradford conversion was not enough to stop Oakmeadians slipping to a narrow 13-12 defeat at home to Sherborne in Dorset & Wilts One South.
