JOINT-boss John Pyatt admitted he had a new stoic style in mind for Bashley when luring centre-half Dave Marden across from Brockenhurst.

Marden became the second Brock player to follow Pyatt to the Southern Premier strugglers this week and goes straight into Bash’s squad for tomorrow night's home match with second-placed Chesham United (7.45pm).

Former Badgers striker Scott Joyce made his debut in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Banbury United, joining former Cherries veteran Justin Keeler and returning goalkeeper Nic Jones.

Pyatt told the Daily Echo: “We need a more rigid platform at the back because we are conceding too many goals. Discipline and strength is required in this league and we have to find a system which will give the players stability.

“Our style of football and approach will suit Dave.”

On Jones’s return, Pyatt added: “Nic agreed to play a one-off game for us on Saturday, but we had a chat after and he was up for the challenge.”

However, Pyatt confirmed he expected Sam Boultwood to join league rivals Burnham this week.
