CHERRIES’ promotion hopes were given a major boost tonight as nine-man Brentford secured a dramatic 2-2 draw at Sheffield United.

Bradley Wright-Phillips struck a last-gasp leveller for the Bees to seal a result which means Cherries' destiny is now in their own hands.

Eddie Howe's men can guarantee a place in next season's Championship with two victories in their final two games of the campaign.

Brentford recovered despite having both Tony Craig and Clayton Donaldson dismissed, with Blades centre-half Harry Maguire also seeing red in an eventful clash which saw both teams score and miss a penalty apiece.

Marcello Trotta fired Brentford in front from the spot but a 12-yarder from Barry Robson and a Dave Kitson goal looked to have won it for the hosts. However, there was another twist as Wright-Phillips bagged an 89th-minute equaliser.

Regardless of other results, Cherries will claim automatic promotion to the Championship if they manage to record victories against Carlisle and Tranmere.
