INJURED skipper Miles Addison says Cherries’ form has given him a big boost but admits being unable to lead the team is “heart-wrenching”.

Addison is currently on the sidelines after undergoing an operation in February to cure the persistent foot problem which hampered his campaign.

The central defender, who made 22 appearances this term, is set to see his surgeon next week as he targets a comeback during pre-season.

Addison, who signed a three-year deal when he joined Cherries from Derby County in the summer, is finding life tough in the treatment room.

But he has revealed how Cherries’ run of five consecutive victories has lifted his spirits in recent weeks.

Addison, 24, told the Daily Echo: “It is probably the toughest time in my career when I have been injured.

“The honour of the captaincy is something I have not taken lightly and not leading the team is heart-wrenching but, at the same time, when the team are doing well it makes it much easier.

“It is just a really good time to be at the club – injured or not. If you are involved with AFC Bournemouth at the moment, it is going to be nothing but positive for you.”
