BOURNEMOUTH under-16s continued their winning ways with a spirited fightback against a strong Winchester side at Chapel Gate.
The young Lions followed up their 80-3 demolition of Taunton the previous weekend, with a 38-24 victory on Sunday.
Winchester, however, were quickest out of the blocks racing to a 12-0 lead before Lions had a chance to regroup.
The hosts fought their way back with a try from Jamie O’Leary which was converted by Conor Dunne.
Another conversion from the boot of Dunne, following a Sam Knott try, saw the Lions level the match at half-time.
Winchester started the second half stronger scoring under the posts to regain a five-point advantage. And the Hampshire visitors looked set for victory when they pounced on a mistake to stretch their lead to 24-12.
But a team talk under the posts spurred the Lions to a remarkable comeback sparked by a Mike Smith try and Dunne conversion.
Shortly afterwards the Lions were ahead following a Hamish Renwick try and took the lead with a fine solo effort from Alex Muncer.
Muncer collected a high ball just inside his own half before shrugging off tackles and sprinting to the line. Dunne duly converted to give Lions a 31-24 lead.
Victory was ensured shortly afterwards when Smith secured his second try of the game.
