Earlier this year the first series of the Death in Paradise spin-off Beyond Paradise aired on the BBC and fans of the show will undoubtedly be looking forward to its first Christmas Special.

The show focuses on former Saint Marie DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall), who left the Caribbean island to be with Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton).

After moving to Martha's hometown of Shipton Abbott off the Devon coast Humphrey joins the local police force and is soon enough having to solve a unique set of cases.

Unlike Death in Paradise, Beyond Paradise tends to deal with storylines unrelated to murder and that appears to be no different with its Christmas Special.

A summary for the episode on the Radio Times reads: "DI Humphrey Goodman investigates a bizarre set of break-ins where items are left behind rather than taken - and Santa is the number one suspect.

"The investigation leads to a bittersweet discovery that makes Humphrey and his team reconsider the true meaning of Christmas.

"Kelby babysits a cheeky young shoplifter, and, Esther's daughter Zoe gets some sage advice from Anne."

Discussing having the opportunity to film a Christmas Special, Kris Marshall said: "It’s a great honour to be granted a Christmas special for what was, this year, a new show.

"I really feel privileged – as I think we all do, because usually it takes two or three series to bed in and to be granted a Christmas special. To get that at the end of our first series was a real boon for us."
