A building society has promised to hand out refunds to anyone affected by the technical glitch which has affected some transactions today.

The Money Saving Expert website states thousands of Nationwide customers have once again seen delays to payments going in and out of their accounts, caused by a technical glitch.

The problems subjected customers to various fees and charges but it has been confirmed refunds will be issued.

Problems with the ‘Faster Payments’ facility began at around 4.30am on Monday, according to Martin Lewis’ site. Nationwide, who has its head office in Swindon, has issued an apology.

Other services were not affected with customers able to use these as normal.

Many customers affected by the outage took to Twitter to vent their frustrations and request support and information.

Jennie! shared a screengrab of the issued, seemingly lost for words this was happening again.

PatriotGooner recommended reporting the matter to the financial watchdog.

And one customer who claims to have been with Nationwide for two decades is considering taking their custom elsewhere.

Money Saving Expert say Nationwide intend to refund any charges automatically but it’s worth keeping an eye out to make sure the money does come through.

The website also recommends making an official complaint stipulating how much you are out of pocket and requesting your finances are reinstated to what they would have been had the technical glitch not occurred.

If you have incurred any costs from other financial providers due to this issue, Nationwide have requested customers contact them to discuss.
