Local historian, Rodney Haskell, said in reference to the old picture of Kinson printed on November 11, John and Jemima White of 'Bare Cross' had three sons. The youngest, Thomas, married Sarah Hatfield Cribb at Kinson in 1858. He was an accomplished baker, grocer and influential businessman in Kinson and East Howe. He built houses in Manor Farm Road for his sons William and Augustus, and probably also built Breton House. William, who died in tragic circumstances, was the father of respected Kinson postmaster and grocer, the late Dennis White.
The Pelhams building dates before the arrival of the White family. The deeds for the estate date from 1711.
