Football fan and devoted great-grandfather David George Vincent from Poole has died at the age of 68.

David grew up in Ballard Road in the town with his parents, brother, Tony and sister, Norma, and went to primary school on South Road before attending Herbert Carter secondary school. He enjoyed playing sport and loved to play table tennis at Lagland St Boy's Club.

After leaving school he went to work at Wallace tin metal box, which is where he met his future wife, Jen, at a work Christmas party. The couple got married at St James' Church and they then moved in with Jen's parents at The Swan pub where they stayed for two years, before setting up in their own home. Over the years, the couple welcomed their children Lisa, Matthew, Stephen and Julie.

After his time in the factory, David went to work on a private yacht and then took up tiling and plastering which he did for the rest of his life until he retired after a stroke three years ago.

He was known to friends as the Rabbi, due to his close affinity with the Jewish community in Poole and because he always wore the star of David.

The father-of-four was described as very family orientated and would make a trip to Shell Bay on a Sunday for the children to spend the day at the beach, as well as to go swimming in Poole Quay.

When his grandchildren arrived, he would often take them to Ham Park to play his beloved football and cricket and also to go cockling. He was also avid supporter of Manchester United football club.

David and Jen enjoyed holidays together in Majorca along with Jen's parents and cousins, Tracey and Karen. He also enjoyed dancing to music and was well known among his family for wearing shorts and yellow flip flops all year round.

David died on the couple's 50 wedding anniversary in Tenerife and his funeral took place at St James' Church in Poole on Friday, January 15 with donations going to Prostate Cancer UK.
