A BUSY Poole road has been closed for the second day in a row as a damage tree is felled.

The A35 Bournemouth Road has been shut from the junction with Mansfield Road, with diversions along Ledgard Close, Inverclyde Road and Sandecotes Road.

Tree surgeons and representatives from BCP Council’s Arboricultural team are currently on the scene to take down a tree that was badly damaged by another tree which came down yesterday evening.

The same road had to be closed for a couple of hours yesterday evening as around three or four trees came down.

Both lanes of the road will be closed, but the council say they hope to have one lane open “later this afternoon”.

Bournemouth Echo:

A BCP Council spokesman said: “In the early hours of Monday morning, our tree surgery contractors and a member of the BCP Arboricultural team responded to an incident involving a privately owned tree in Bournemouth Road.

“Part of the tree had failed and blocked the highway, this was cleared and made safe in anticipation of a further assessment of the tree.

“The remainder of the tree was assessed and required immediate removal on safety grounds. In order to undertake this removal safely a road closure was necessary.

“These works are underway and it is anticipated that at least one lane of the road will be open later this afternoon.”
