TWO RNLI lifeboats and the coastguard were called out to search for a missing child near Bournemouth Pier over the weekend.
Two vessels from Poole Lifeboat Station were launched at 7pm on Sunday June 13 to assist Southbourne Coastguards to find the child who was last seen in the water.
Coastguards were on their way to assist ambulance crews with a medical incident at Durley Chine but were redirected due to a “higher priority tasking”.

As both lifeboats and the coastguard arrived on the scene, the child had been located and described as “safe and well”, and all three crews stood down.
A spokesman from RNLI Poole Lifeboat Station said: “Both Poole Lifeboats were launched at 7pm by UK Coastguard on Sunday June 13 to a report of a missing young child, east of Bournemouth Pier.
“Both lifeboats were swiftly away, conditions were fine, glassy calm and the beaches were still busy. As soon as the lifeboats were on scene, they began to search the area.
“Then, news came through that the child had been located and was safe and well, so both lifeboats were requested to stand down and returned to station.
“The lifeboat were washed down and refuelled and made ready for service by 8.30pm.”
