It comes as a road closure has been implemented at Sandbanks in an attempt to relieve traffic problems.

The car park at the peninsula has been full since before 9.30am this morning.

BCP Council has now taken action to try to address the delays in the area, which can impact the access to and from the chain ferry.

The council spokesperson said: "We're temporary closing the road to Sandbanks Peninsula (Poole side) to ease congestion for buses and ferry passengers.

"This is whilst we release the traffic. Please avoid this area. If leaving the beach allow time for your journey and stay hydrated.

"Access will be maintained for residents, public transport, ferry passengers and emergency vehicles. We will notify once we reopen the road.

"This will be for approx 30 minutes we will keep you updated."
