A GROUP of travellers have set up an unauthorised encampment at Wallisdown Recreation Ground.
Eight caravans and four vehicles moved onto the park off the A3049 Wallisdown Road close to Bournemouth University earlier today.
BCP Council are liaising with individuals involved and say that “required assessments” are being carried out.
A spokesperson for the council said: “BCP Council is aware of the unauthorised encampment located at Wallisdown Recreation Ground consisting of eight living units and associated vehicles.
“Our team are working to carry out the required assessments, and both Bournemouth University and Dorset Police are aware of the situation.”
