A MAN from Boscombe who has 21 aliases has been hit with a court bill of seven times more than the train fare he failed to pay.

Mark Williams, 55, was convicted of a single charge of using the Great Western Railway service at Truro Railway Station having previously not paid the £34.20 fare and having intent to avoid paying it.

Williams, of Aylesbury Road, Boscombe, was sentenced at a Preston Magistrates’ Court hearing sitting as Cornwall magistrates on May 31.

The defendant had 21 aliases listed on court documents including, Pennington Abbington Stuart Sanderson, David Grundy, John Grundy and Willy.

Williams was fined £180 and ordered to pay £34.20 compensation and a £34 surcharge.

He pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to custody at Truro Magistrates’ Court on February 22 having been bailed on January 24, but he received no separate penalty for this offence.
