BOURNEMOUTH, Poole and Dorset councillors will meet on Friday, October 5, to hear about plans to redevelop Christchurch Hospital.

The joint health scrutiny committee meeting will hear how Christchurch Hospital bosses hope to secure the future of the hospital by making better use of the site and building new services there.

Earlier this year, the NHS Foundation Trust formally consulted on the future use of the Christchurch Hospital site and it recently held a public exhibition to display their plans. These include building key worker housing, a nursing home and GP surgery on the site.

The report to the scrutiny meeting states that around 250 people attended the two-day drop-in public engagement session, including staff, patients and members of the public. A total of 95 feedback responses were received, 85 of which supported the plans.

Negative responses centred around the size and location of the phlebotomy department, overdevelopment of the site and the idea of relocating the chapel.
