POOLE residents who register early for next year’s kerbside garden waste collection, will receive a discounted rate.

Those who sign on between October 1 and December 14 will pay £25.95 instead of the full charge of £31.

Cllr Xena Dion, cabinet member for the environment, said: “Following the success of this year’s garden waste collection service, with over 95 per cent of those on the scheme registering before April to take advantage of the discount, it was important to approve a discount period for next year’s service, which not only benefits residents but helps officers plan ahead.

“It is important we continue to build on the success of this year’s scheme and by offering a discount to those residents who register early we hope to do that. I would encourage people to register before December 14.”

Anyone with an Access to Learning and Leisure Card is entitled to a 50 per cent discount, making the cost £15.50.

More than 21,000 residents have registered for the garden waste collection, with 6,100 new this year. The fortnightly service runs from March to November and is available to every household in the borough. For info go to boroughofpoole.com/gardenwaste.
