Cherries have this afternoon completed the signing of Dutchman Lorenzo Davids, subject to international clearance and Football League approval.

The combative midfielder is a cousin of former Juventus and Inter Milan star Edgar Davids and joins the Dorset club on a free transfer after being released from his deal with German club FC Augsburg.

The 25-year-old has penned a two-year deal with Cherries, but is currently receiving treatment for a minor injury and could be sidelined for another three weeks.

Davids was pictured by the Echo at Goldsands Stadium on Saturday, where he was a guest of director Tom Mitchell, and played alongside Cherries striker Frank Demouge at N.E.C.

Meanwhile, club sources have scotched rumours striker Brett Pitman could be set to return to Goldsands Stadium.

The Bristol Evening Post first reported that talks had been held last night between representatives from Cherries and Bristol City, but the Echo understands the proposed deal will not be happening.

Cherries were also understood to have enquired about bringing Anton Robinson back to the club, but are now believed to have ended their interest in the midfielder.

Other transfer deadline day rumours have linked Donal McDermott with a short-term move to Chesterfield, but, although Cherries are understood to be keen to loan out the midfielder, Echo sources claim the Spireites are not in the running.
