EMILY Longley’s devastated father yesterday made an emotional statement on behalf of the family moments after seeing Elliot Turner convicted of his daughter’s murder.

Mark Longley said: “This last five weeks have all been about finding justice for Emily and that has been done today.

“Caroline, Hannah and I have been in limbo for the last year not knowing what happened to our daughter.

“What we have heard over the past five weeks has shocked and disgusted us that a man so evil as Turner can treat a gentle, loving girl like Emily that way and so violently is beyond belief.

“Emily was a strong willed and determined girl who at times could be challenging to a parent.

“She was also a beautiful, loving, caring, forgiving, young girl. She loved to have fun, she loved people and she loved life.”

Mr Longley said the family were proud Emily had travelled half way around the world to pursue her studies at Brockenhurst College.

He said if someone had taken Elliot’s threats about Emily seriously she would still be alive today.

“Turner has caused deep, deep sorrow in two countries on opposite sides of the world. Many people have been affected by his actions.

“We have lost a daughter and it has left a deep huge hole where she once was.

“Facing a future without our bright young girl is a daunting thing.

“I personally hope Turner suffers every day in prison for what he has done.”

Mr Longley thanked the police and prosecuting team.

His statement added: “To our beautiful daughter Emily who was on the cusp of her adulthood, we all still love you very much.”

Caroline said Elliot has shown no remorse and added: “Emily was just a trophy to be adorned on his arm.”

Speaking about Leigh and Anita Turner, Caroline added: “I think his parents were put in a very difficult position and I think they were manipulated by him.

“There comes a line you do not cross and they over-stepped the line.”
