POOLE’S budget proposals have made their way through cabinet and now face the hurdle of a full council.
Next Thursday the Conservative administration’s proposals for a balanced budget go before a full meeting of the hung Borough of Poole.
This is the first time in many years where there is no overall control, with the Tories having 21 councillors, Liberal Democrats 18 and Poole People three.
“We are proposing a balanced budget,” said council leader, Cllr Elaine Atkinson. “A safe budget.”
Following the cabinet meeting, she added: “The Cabinet is recommending to the full council next week to have a zero per cent increase in council tax as a part of next year’s budget proposals. In the economic downturn we know that our residents are really struggling with household budget pressures and we have recognised this in recommending a council tax freeze again for 2012/13.
“However we must understand that this council tax freeze will impact on future years.”
