DEDICATED villagers in Burton turned out to make their community a nicer place to live.

A group of around 20 people took to the country lanes to pick out rubbish from the hedgerows and ditches in a seasonal ‘frostbite litter pick’.

Along with the annual spring and post-summer events, the loyal villagers picked various items from the hedges, trees and ditches in the litter pick, arranged to take advantage of the bare branches but fine weather.

The volunteers managed to fill around 18 sacks with various pieces of rubbish.

Cllr Jamieson said: “It was a great event and did exactly what we wanted – clear the ditches along Salisbury Road.

“It was organised by myself and Cllr David Flagg with support from Burton Parish Council.

“We’re grateful for everyone’s help.”
