A MAN sustained a fractured jaw and will have to undergo surgery following a vicious assault in Bournemouth town centre.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened outside Snappy Tomato Pizza on Exeter Road shortly after 3am yesterday.

The victim, a 29-year-old from Bournemouth, had been enjoying a night out with friends and had just left the nearby Klute bar when he was assaulted.

He was taken to Poole Hospital for treatment.

Detective Constable Liz Westaway, of Bournemouth CID, said two white men, aged in their 20s, were seen walking away from the area towards the BIC. One was wearing a black shirt.

“These men may have information that will be help me with my investigation and I would urge them to come forward and speak with police as soon as possible.

“I am also appealing for anyone who witnessed this assault, and anyone with any information about this incident, to contact us, in confidence, as soon as possible.”
