RESIDENTS who find it difficult to access ordinary buses will be riding on a new vehicle as part of the Christchurch Dial-a-Bus service.
The scheme has now procured its first 17-seater accessible minibus with funds from the Big Lottery-administered Transition Fund, Bournemouth Airport Community Fund, Christchurch Borough Council and the Christchurch Community Partnership.
The new bus will be launched from Thursday, February 16, in Saxon Square at 3pm by the Mayor of Christchurch, Cllr Sue Spittle and the Friends of Christchurch Dial-a-Bus, along with representatives from the organisations funding it.
The scheme provides door-to-door wheelchair-accessible transport for people with disabilities of all ages who find it difficult to use existing public transport.
The bus and trained staff take passengers to various destinations across Christchurch.
It operates four days a week and can be used for shopping, banking, visiting hospital and excursions.
