BRAZILIAN Jiu Jitsu fighter Jeff Lawson was due to start a 24-hour marathon sparring session at 10am today to raise money for Dorset children’s hospice Julia’s House.

The 33-year-old brown belt has recruited some of his students and even his own teacher to step in as his sparring partner during the event, being held at Ippon Gym in Terrace Road, Bournemouth.

“The hardest slots to fill are those in the early hours of the morning” said Jeff.

“Luckily I have trained some doormen and they are happy to come when they finish shifts.”

Jeff is allowed just a five-minute break every two hours but said it will be worth it to raise money for such a good cause.

Anyone who wishes to donate can do so online at virginmoneygiving.com/JeffLawson or you can pop in to the gym to see the event.
