AN 18-YEAR-OLD from Poole has been rewarded for his “tireless enthusiasm” volunteering with Dorset Police.

Poole Town and Oakdale Safer Neighbourhood Team nominated Calum Maton for the Teenage Award to say thanks for his commitment and giving up his spare time to help out.

He joins officers on patrol, collects data and takes on admin tasks. He has also been trained to send out Ringmaster community messages.

Poole Safer Neighbourhood officer, David Tew, said: “I have never before seen such a young person who is so enthusiastic to help, not only the police, but also the general public and community.

“In a very short space of time Calum has become a very popular and dependable member of the team who gives his time to assist both the police and the community.”

Mature and polite, Calum has a very bright future ahead of him, officer Tew added.
