A teenage boy has been found unconscious in Poole town centre having received head injuries.

The 16-year-old boy was found injured in the early hours of Wednesday morning at the rear of the Kingland Road bus station.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with any information to get in touch urgently.

The mysterious incident came to light when Dorset Police received a call from the ambulance service about an unconscious 16-year-old boy, who had been found near the Dolphin Shopping Centre.

He was lying in a service road behind a bakery and the call came through at 4.57 am.

The youth from Poole had injuries to his head, which are not believed to be life threatening and he was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.

Det Sgt Rich Philp of Poole and Bournemouth CID said: “It is not clear how the victim received his injuries.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed an incident along the service road that runs past the Dolphin Centre and the rear of the bus station, or has any information about anyone involved, to contact police urgently,” he said.

He added: “All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
