WHEN former painter and decorator Matt Cardle turned up at an audition for The X Factor 18 months ago, little did he know that he would soon be performing to thousands of fans as he embarks on a tour around the country.

Matt, who beat teen favourites One Direction and Rebecca Ferguson to claim the title of X Factor winner 2010, has announced that he will be hitting the road in March 2012 for an extensive 20-date tour of the UK and Ireland and one of the dates will be right here in Bournemouth.

Matt will perform at the O2 Academy Bournemouth on March 8 — and tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday, October 28.

After winning the coveted prize last December, Matt went straight to the top of the charts with his single When We Collide, securing himself the Christmas number one spot.

This year, he has been touring with the X Factor, and over the last four months, writing and recording his debut album Letters, released a week ago.

The talented popstar is currently going head-to-head in the race for the number one spot with former Oasis man Noel Gallagher.

If you can’t wait until March next year, Matt Cardle will also be making an appearance at the Wave 105 Live event taking place at the BIC on Sunday, November 20.
