RADIO DJ and Ferrari enthusiast Chris Evans drove some Italian flair into the heart of Daily Echo country yesterday.

The multi-millionaire, whose love of the machines is legendary, was at the head of a convoy which left Italian sports car enthusiasts weak at the knees.

Chris, a staunch supporter of the BBC’s Children in Need appeal, was heading his ‘Magnificent Seven’ drive out and dine after raising more than half a million pounds during the event last year.

His charity drivers, who all bid handsomely for the chance to clamber behind the wheel of a Ferrari from his personal collection, arrived at Wool’s Monkey World ape rescue centre just after lunchtime.

Then the convoy powered back across the county border to New Milton’s prestige Chewton Glen Hotel for a well-deserved break and afternoon tea.

The seven Ferraris taking part this year were: A 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Competition, a 1964 Ferrari 250 Lusso, a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4, a 1969 Ferrari 365 GTC, a 1985 Ferrari 288 GTO, a 1992 Ferrari F40 and a 2010 Ferrari 599 GTO.
