A HARROWING 999 call from Heather Barnett's children led police to one of the most shocking crime scenes ever seen in Dorset.

Caitlin, just 11 years old at the time, and her 14-year-old brother Terry had discovered their mother in the family bathroom in circumstances no child should ever have to see.

Heather had been violently attacked with a knife and a hammer.

Her breasts had been removed and placed by her side.

And in a bizarre twist, neatly cut hair had been placed in her hands - the hair was not her own and could not have been ripped from the head of the murderer.

Since her brutal death, detectives have made numerous appeals for help from the public and they urged anyone who had had their hair cut off in unusual circumstances to come forward.

An appeal in the summer of 2004 led to four women coming forward who all said they had hair chopped from their heads while they were travelling on buses in the Bournemouth area between 2000 and 2004.
