MORE than 50,200 people took to the BIC’s ice rink during its cent three-month winter season.
That is an average of nearly 600 skaters a day, but bosses are still considering not opening the rink this summer in favour of a roller skating rink.
Coun Ron Whittaker says the figure proves the need for a competition-sized ice stadium, with indoor leisure facilities and floodlit multi-use games areas, at Kings Park, in Bournemouth.
He is calling for interested parties to push ahead with more detailed plans or the community will miss out.
