A MAN whose dying wish was to see his heroine Rosemary Squires perform will be remembered at a special memorial night on Sunday February 27.

Travelling to see the radio and television star, even meeting her backstage, brought Richard Jackson, 79, a little happiness in his lung cancer battle.

Now Rosemary and pianist Bill Coleman are putting on an evening of popular song to raise money for the Forest Holme Hospice, where her late fan spent his final days.

Richard’s friend Valerie Seldon, who cared for him, said: “When they met, Richard just fell under Rosemary’s spell.

“It was wonderful. Richard never felt sorry for himself and loved that he’d been fortunate enough to see her.

“The staff at Forest Holme looked after him marvellously so this is a perfect tribute. ”

Rosemary said: “This will be a night to remember Richard’s great courage. I feel honoured to be able to help out.”

Gigs, Giggles and Gossip at Hamworthy Club, in Canford, starts at 3pm.
