A GANG of teenage girls whose violent attack at a Bournemouth shop was caught on film has again come under fire.

They were bombarded with criticism after Daily Echo readers saw footage and photographs of their assault on a convenience store worker and images of them kicking a door in and smashing glass.

At least some of the girls involved are believed to be from Poole High School, although the school has refused to make any comment.

Now fellow students have voiced their own concerns with one saying: "I think they should be locked up - I know who they are and I have reported them."

The student, who has not been named, criticised them for ruining the reputation of their school and added: "Everyone hates you at the moment."

Another said: "These girls go to my school and I can't believe they've been this disgusting - they put the school to shame."

The comments were posted on the Daily Echo website, which attracted scores of comments from outraged members of the public.

One said: "I know that as a parent myself I would be totally devastated to see my daughter behave in this manner - it's disgusting" and another added: "Teenagers have no respect these days."

A spokesman for Dorset Police said they have received a number of calls from members of the public since the images were published in the Daily Echo and at bournemouthecho.co.uk "We are following up a number of leads" said a spokesman.

Former Poole High School governor David Gillard, who left that role in 2010 after seven years, said: "I think this sort of anti-social behaviour is absolutely appalling.

"This sort of behaviour frightens people from walking along the streets. If there had been an old lady passing when this was happening it would have frightened her to death.

"Whatever went on in the shop, this reaction is over the top."
