DOMESTIC violence victims in Dorset are in safe hands, say councils.
Despite charity Women’s Aid warning that more than half of the country’s 300 shelters will close or have to reduce services, Bournemouth Churches Housing Association, which runs Bournemouth Women’s refuge, North Dorset women’s refuge and Poole Refuge and outreach service, says they are not at risk.
But the extent of cuts from Dorset County Council, which has seen its Supporting People Grant for a variety of services to vulnerable people chopped by £680,000, is not yet known.
Contracts up for renewal from March 31 are being reduced, but a spokesman said almost all services would not see “major changes” .
