VICTOR Mears has been judged fit to continue to stand trial over Lapland New Forest.

The 67-year-old from Brighton is on trial at Bristol Crown Court over the failed festive attraction at Matchams, near Ringwood, which ran over Christmas 2008.

After a delay in proceedings for medical evidence over his health, the judge decided on Monday that the case should continue.

Mears has told the court this week that he was "harassed and bullied" by a member of staff at Matchams.

He claimed he invested a lot of money – for example £70,500 on children’s toys – but was then short changed by a Mr Cooper.

Mears, and his brother Henry, 60, also from Brighton, deny misleading customers.

The case continues.
