A first edition copy of Ian Fleming’s Dr No is set to go under the hammer at a Sherborne auction house.
The iconic James Bond book was printed in 1958 and the copy up for auction at the Charterhouse salerooms on Long Street still has its original dust jacket.
Partner, Richard Bromell, said: “Just mention the name James Bond and it will usually get a response, either in a convincing or unconvincing Sean Connery impression, maybe as a classic Bond stance, or perhaps sparking a debate on the best Bond actor.
“What is certain is the first edition of Dr No entered into our January auction will get the collectors bidding!”
The current owner had been clearing her parents’ home when she found the book and brought it to a Charterhouse valuation day, where experts said it could be worth as much as £300.
The book will be auctioned on Friday January 21. For more information, call 01935 812277.
