ANOTHER Dorset performer is gearing up to wow the judges on a TV dancing show tomorrow night after a Verwood youngster grabbed the nation’s attention.

This week the UK took six-year-old Theo McKenzie-Hayton to their hearts after he was dubbed ‘the mini Michael Jackson’ for his performance on Sky One’s Got to Dance, presented by Davina McCall.

He impressed the judges with his routines after appearing on stage dressed as a Smooth Criminal-era Jacko.

Theo, who attends Trinity First School in Verwood and dances with Shake in Ringwood, said: “I loved it.”

Mum Clare added: “I’m very proud of him. He’s been doing it about 18 months.

“His dad took him to see the Thriller stage show at the Pavilion and he was moonwalking and things so I got him a DVD and he was gripped.

“Theo just loves the performing.”

On tomorrow night’s show Sophie Wathen, 13, is taking part as a member of the 24-piece tap dance group Tap Attack.

Sophie attends Footlight Dance Academy and Tap Attack have just returned from the World Tap Championships in Germany, where they ranked second in the world.

They are hoping to impress the panel of judges – former Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, tap dancer Adam Garcia and Britain’s Got Talent winner Ashley Banjo – with their routine.

The group, founded in 2006, are under the direction of tap choreographer and performer and world record breaker Jo Scanlan, recognised by many as one of the country’s leading tap specialists, who has performed, taught and choreographed all over the world, including on Broadway.
