A MAN severely injured by a stabbing has thanked Echo readers for their heartfelt messages of support.

Nick Verron nearly died when he was stabbed in the brain in Boscombe’s Roumelia Lane last July.

He is fighting to prove doctors’ predictions wrong and readers backed him after the latest update on his condition.

“How touching are these comments?” wrote Nick on the Echo website.

“I am truly grateful that I have inadvertently had a positive effect on people’s lives and fully intend to do so proactively in the future.

“It warms my heart to see recognition for my plight, and that of those around me.”

Nick, 26, was initially left partially paralysed and unable to talk or even sit up straight.

He has made massive strides with speech can now walk slowly if he has something to hold on to.

A Bournemouth poster called ‘redbear’ wrote: “It is SO good to read about Nick’s determination and fight to be the best he can be after what’s happened to him.”

Tezza1965, from Bournemouth wrote: “Keep fighting and you will succeed. I’m sure the next time the Echo interview you, you’ll have taken further giant strides towards a full recovery. Good luck.”

Another reader wrote: “Nick I hope you read this. I hope you return to Boscombe soon. I know you are fighting for a better future for yourself and I respect that an incredible amount.”
