Work to refurbish the A350 Blandford Road North at Beacon Hill has been suspended due to the cold weather.
The reconstruction, at the junction near Lytchett Matravers, can't be done in temperatures less than 2 degrees C.
But the county council is asking drivers to take extra care as the north and southbound carriageways are currently at different levels.
The northbound lane also has a temporary road surface with less grip than usual, so an advisory 30mph limit is in force.
Side roads Wimborne Road and Rushall Lane will also remain closed for safety reasons. Motorists are asked not to remove the barriers or try to use the side roads under any circumstances.
