THE daughter of a 69-year-old woman found stabbed to death in Bournemouth has been charged with her murder.

Ecila Henderson, 39, appeared at Winchester Crown Court to face the charge after Rosemary Elaine Armstrong’s body was discovered in the driveway of a block of flats in Queensland Road, Pokesdown, on August 25.

The retired PE teacher, a divorcee from Salisbury, had suffered multiple stab wounds.

Ms Henderson is being kept in secure accommodation until her next appearance at Winchester Crown Court on February 17, 2011.

Speaking soon after Mrs Armstrong’s death, elder daughter Fiona Henderson said she was a “selfless” and “generous” woman with a great sense of humour, who would be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Fiona, 41, who has lived abroad for 10 years, had already bought tickets to visit this Christmas.

She said: “Mum was extremely resilient and a very strong woman who bore a lot of trials in her life but bore them with amazing determination and courage.

“She loved teaching the little ones in particular and was just very generous with her time and her knowledge.

“She had a lot of patience – it was very sweet to see.”

Mrs Armstrong’s youngest daughter, Bryony, died of a brain tumour at the age of five.
