PALS of a “vibrant” 18-year-old tragically killed as he walked along the A31 are holding a special gig in his memory.

Heartbroken by Sam Gunstone’s death in May, friends and family set up a special trust to ensure the artistic skateboarder leaves a lasting legacy.

On Saturday, the White Hart in Wimborne will ring out to the electronic punk rock of his pals’ band the Emerald Guard for the Gunstone Trust’s inaugural fundraiser.

Bassist and vocalist Alfie Brown, 17, said: “Sam was a real Wimborne character.

“I met him through a friend of a friend, and started seeing him around town a lot. We’d have a good chat. He was an all round good chap who liked everything.

“We thought this would be a great way to keep his memory alive; he was into 50s and 60s hippy music really.”

The trust will work to create projects and activities for teenagers, helping them to have fun and achieve their potential.

Initial ideas included revamping the skate ramp at Redcotts Recreation Ground, but the site is too small so they’re looking at other locations.

Alfie, a QE student like Sam, added: “It’s about making an impact on youth and helping them out, as there’s not much going on around here sometimes.”

The Skimmity Hitchers are headlining at the pub’s marquee, in Cornmarket. Reggae and dance DJ Dapper Dan & The Macassa Man will compere.

More support acts are to be confirmed. The show runs from 7.30-11.30pm. Suggested donation £3.
