A TEENAGER has been left without part of his ear following a horrific glassing in a busy pub.

Now Bo Revell, who says he’s scarred for life after the unprovoked attack in Wimborne, is calling on more venues to switch to plastic glasses.

The 19-year-old, who was bleeding heavily, had to undergo two hours of re-constructive surgery after paramedics rushed him to hospital from The Rising Sun in East Street.

Speaking to the Daily Echo at his home in Verwood, Bo said: “I was just standing by the sofa having a quiet drink with my step-brother, who I hadn’t seen for ages.

“The next thing I knew, I’d been hit and fell back onto the sofa. This bloke was trying to strangle and choke me. I had to kick him off.

“There was no shouting or anything, but now we think there was an argument going on.”

He added: “It’s weird, I didn’t really feel it when it happened and didn’t realise I’d been hit with a pint glass.

“When I got outside everyone was shocked by all the blood, saying I’d have to have stitches.”

Bo couldn’t hear for a few days after the attack.

“I won’t be going out for a while,” he said. “I think plastic glasses are definitely the way forward.”

Liam Hacker, from Wimborne Pub Watch and the Oddfellows Arms pub, said: “A very small element do this sort of thing.

“It seems a shame for responsible people to suffer for the fools that do the damage.

“I don’t think I’d call for more polycarbonate glasses to stop this, but greater vigilance. Pro-active door and bar staff seeing incidents and stopping them before they can escalate really helps.”

He added: “Although some people do set out to hurt others, it’s not something that happens every weekend.

“Wimborne is a small town with very good people in it.”

Pub Watch members, who operate a Banned from One Banned from All policy, will discuss tougher measures at their next meeting at The Olive Branch on Tuesday.

Chief Inspector Mike Darkin said: “Through close partnership working with the newly formed East Dorset licensing forum, we are looking to introduce polycarbonate glasses where it is considered, through a risk assessment process, that they may have an impact on reducing serious assaults.”

Police are looking for a white man in his late 30s with a bald or shaven head following the incident at around 11.50pm on Friday, September 27.
