PRANKSTERS have been blamed for turning Poole Park’s fountain into a giant washing-up bowl.

Visitors passing the crazy golf course stared in amazement at the suds filling the fountain near the entrance to the park from Parkstone Road on Thursday (30).

A contractor working nearby told the Echo that the basin would probably be drained to remove the foam, which he said had been caused by washing-up liquid.

Pranksters regularly filled the fountain with foam, he said, adding that while it meant extra work for park staff, it was not harmful to the public.

A council spokesman said that without laboratory analysis, they were unable to determine the substance that had caused the bubbles but added they had no reason to believe it was hazardous.

The bubbles would be treated at the earliest opportunity with “anti-foam”, she added.
